Are you interested in becoming a mediator?
This six-hour course is intended to provide fundamental training for new and intermediate experience level mediators and ombuds volunteers, equipping them to be deployed in the field.
The course provides students with important context for understanding alternative dispute resolution channels within the broader context of spectrum of dispute resolution methods, including litigation and arbitration. The course consists of coverage of the basic principles of mediation, including content from the seminal book on the subject, Getting to Yes. Portions of a mediation simulation video are shared and dissected.
Finally, students have the opportunity to engage in a trio of mock mediations, ensuring that each participant has the opportunity to play the role of Complainant, Respondent, and Mediator in real-world dispute scenarios.
