Treating Listings With Respect
REALTORS should educate agents and potential buyers about treating listings with respect.
REALTORS should educate agents and sellers about listing issues such as securing all valuables, weapons, drugs, identity information, alcohol, and items of sentimental value.
When visiting a listing, ensure the property is left secured from easy burglary (windows and doors re-locked). Ensure that appliances and systems are left in a secure manner.
Be careful when moving through a listing. Turn on lights and keep an eye out for tripping hazards. Pick up tripping dangers for later visitors.
Emergencies arise. Ensure that bathrooms are left in good condition.
If something happens, ensure you report the incident to the brokers so the information gets to the supervisors and sellers.
Leaving an apology note for the seller for something small accidentally broken or a toilet that won’t flush properly can go a long way toward smoothing the issue with the seller.
