On St. Patrick’s Day, it’s a tradition for many to raise a glass and toast the luck o’ the Irish. For potential buyers without the luck of the Irish on their side, the number 10 may be what brings them the most good fortune when it comes to real estate and finding the perfect home.
Why is 10 the luckiest number for homebuyers? Well, according to NAR’s 2017 Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends, the typical home buyer searched for 10 weeks and viewed 10 homes before finding their dream home (at the end of a rainbow). And when broken down by age, the number 10 is even more prevalent; while the length of the home search was 12 weeks for buyers 37 to 51 years, for all other generations, buyers searched for 10 weeks, and all generations viewed a median of 10 homes.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day (and house hunting)!
