Cassina Group managing broker Owen Tyler is named 2021 South Carolina REALTOR® of the Year

COLUMBIA, S.C. (November 23, 2021) — South Carolina REALTOR® (SCR) member and Charleston broker Owen Tyler has been named the association’s 2021 REALTOR® of the Year. The announcement was made during the association’s Awards Gala and Installation of Officers event on November 19, 2021 at Washington Place in Columbia.

The South Carolina REALTOR® of the Year program is the association’s most coveted annual award. It was established in 1955 and has been designed to honor and recognize those Realtor® members who have contributed most to the advancement of the South Carolina real estate profession and community.

Owen Tyler is managing broker and partner at the Charleston boutique real estate company, The Cassina Group, where he oversees three offices of the highest producing agents in the Charleston market. As SCR’s immediate past president he led the association throughout the challenges of the 2020 pandemic and played an instrumental role in having real estate deemed an essential service.

“Owen led the association through the most challenging period of our lifetimes. He helped South Carolina’s economy continue and real estate thrive in the most difficult unprecedented circumstances,” said SCR’s CEO Nick Kremydas.

Tyler has served on local, state, and national boards of directors and in leadership positions for SCR, Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS® (CTAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

He was elected as president of CTAR in 2013, nominated as its REALTOR® of the Year in 2014 and was named a REALTOR® of Distinction from 2004-2013. In 2008 Tyler received SCR’s C. Dan Joyner Community Service Award and assumed the role as SCR president in 2020.

He also has served in multiple roles at the NAR including its board of directors, where he is serving again until 2022. Tyler was recently appointed to the position of 2022 chair of the REALTORS® Political Action Fundraising Committee, an esteemed position in which he will lead the association’s 1.5 million members in its PAC fundraising efforts.

In addition to his Realtor® accomplishments, Tyler also is a leader in the Charleston business community. He was named as one of Charleston Magazine’s 50 Most Influential People in 2020 and was named to the 2021 Real Estate Power List by SC Biz News. His community volunteer service includes director for Charleston Regional Development Alliance, the Children’s Trust of South Carolina and One80 Place.
